TYPE O NEGATIVE: BLOODY KISSES Third Studio Album (1993)

TYPE O NEGATIVE: BLOODY KISSES Album Cover

Bloody Kisses is the third studio album by the gothic metal band Type O Negative, released on August 17, 1993 on Roadrunner Records. The album includes two of their best-known songs, Christian Woman and Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All), both of which gained the band a considerable cult following.

The album also established recurring motifs of the band’s music, such as the inclusion of covers recorded in their own style, interludes of sample filled soundscapes and lyrics full of dry, satirical humor.

The album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in November 1995. In December 2000, it was certified platinum by the RIAA. Considered a classic in the gothic metal genre, Bloody Kisses is “saturated with complex sound patterns,” featuring Peter Steele’s distinctive baritone voice and lyrics relating to themes such as sex, religion, image, racism and death.
