American Psycho is the third studio album by the rock band The Misfits, released on May 13, 1997 by Geffen Records. It was the first to be recorded and released without Glenn Danzig, founder and former frontman of the band. Bassist Jerry Only, after years of litigation, reached an agreement with Danzig and was granted the rights to perform and record using the band’s name and image. In addition, the album saw the addition of musician Michale Graves.
Originally, the album was to be titled Dead Kings Rise, a joke about the group’s resurrection, but was changed when the title track was not included on the album.
It was produced by Daniel Rey, who was also producer for other artists such as Ramones and White Zombie.
